Norfolk patrol crowned king of the roadside, beating over 2,000 rivals for the coveted Patrol of the Year award.
Former stock car racing mechanic, John Snowling from Norfolk is in pole position after winning the highest accolade for our roadside patrols.
John joined us four years ago after working as a dealer technician for Mercedes-Benz and BMW. The married 28-year-old got his award at a glittering ceremony held at London Heathrow’s Sofitel Hotel on 17 September.
John says: “I couldn’t believe it when they read out my name at the award ceremony. There’s a lot of pride in wearing the uniform and I really look forward to representing the patrol force… you can’t beat the satisfaction of turning a breakdown into a positive experience for the Member.”
Over the next 12 months, John will be the public face of the company, representing us to the industry and the media. However, outside of work, John has a daughter and describes himself as a family man. He also enjoys fishing and is a keen biker.
The award started life in 1987 to recognise the service and dedication of our patrols across the country. And being shortlisted is no mean feat.
The judging began in June with regional heats across the UK and the six finalists were then put through intensive technical and driving tests, panel interview and mock live radio interviews at our training centre in Leicestershire.
Olly Kunc, Road Operations Director, says: “Our patrols have one of the best and most challenging jobs in the motor trade. While they use the latest equipment, including Bosch vehicle diagnostics, to help fix pretty much any vehicle on the road, there’s more to it than just the technical aspects.
Our patrols like to say they fix the Member first, then the car, and John typifies these values that set AA patrols apart. His award is due credit for his service to Members at the roadside and he’s a fantastic ambassador for the company.”
